The last of the 2005 series saw a good field of almost
20 set out on a fairly warm evening, ideal for a stroll in the Park but
harder to put in the required effort. Richard and Sandra Brown were back
from their 100 miles effort although Richard was encouraging us all from
the roadside on this occasion. Sandra meanwhile had a good race as the
first home among the strong Surrey Walking Club contingent showing no
after effects and some two minutes ahead of her husband's time in the June
race. She was almost half a mile away from the 2nd Surrey
finisher. The report on the rest of the team should have been "must try
harder" but the temptation to enjoy a pleasant evening in the peace of
Battersea seemed to distract some of us. The coming months will no doubt
see the hard work begin.
