There was
in fact a 5km event for women but Jo Jackson, on the back of a
splendid victory in Australia which saw her achieve the Olympic
A standard and UK record for 20km, decided the men’s 10km would
suit her preparations better – and the won it in the best UK
time for 12 years. Behind this great performance Surrey Walking
had a team of three out on a cold but dry day in Victoria Park,
Leamington Spa. 6th place saw a personal best
equalling 52 minute time from Stephen Crane to beat past
Olympian Ian Richards for the first time. His position helped
Essex County team to 3rd place medals. Mike Harran
met his upcoming move into the M70 group within reach of the
hour.
