|Surrey Walking Club was one of the few Clubs with a full team out for this, the third race of the series. Once again Paul King was at the front of the Surrey pack but the others were closer to him than last week. Such a short race is bound to be competitive and even Shaun, who had declared himself only part fit after a short layoff, had Hannell in his sights (unbeknown to the latter). He was unable to close the gap but did retain the usual adjacent placing if not in the usual order. After a freezing week the weather was fairly mild and sunny so there were no excuses and performances were sufficiently strong as not to require them. Although not a large menís field the women made up a total of over 20 and it was good to see that most of the female competitors were considerably below 40 instead of mainly above like the men.
