| The National 20km Championship was held near Colchester on day where all of the roads south of the Thames were snow covered but the race itself only saw a few flurries. The cold weather seemed not to have put off too many and the Senior Men’s field was almost 40. The cold did force a few to drop out and the very strict judging also eliminated a few including two of the Surrey Walking Club team members leaving them with an incomplete team. Once again Mick Harran got the better of Peter Hannell in the last 2km lap but both were satisfied to finish at a reasonable pace within their target time.
