|The last of a weekly succession of important races saw a small band up in Coventry for the Inter-Counties 10km held in the University campus. Similar weather also continued with a bright day spoiled by a slight but very cold breeze. In respect of the County result our five were split between 4 counties – Surrey, Kent, Leicester and Middlesex. All returned good times with Sarah Lightman in the women’s race around her best for the distance while dad, Shaun, kept up his recent spell of good form.

The previous week Sarah had won her first claim Club’s 15 miles handicap this being of the yacht variety with the slowest out first and all expected to finish around the same time. Among the first off, Sarah was so quick that she reached the turn of the out and back course before the marshals had arrived but fortunately she knew the position of the turn.
