Cambridge Harriers League 5km, Bexley 11th Jan 14
A very average sized field turned up for the third Cambridge Harriers league 5km at Bexley in much better weather than recently experienced although there was a slight but cold wind. A wide range of performances saw an excellent 22 minutes from the young winner, Cameron Corbishley, and a relatively even better 24 minutes from 16 year old Luc Legon in 2nd. Not too far behind in 9th saw another best time from SWC’s first man home, Malcolm Martin, who was well up with the two youngsters in terms of improvement. Although SWC’s next man, Dan Maskell and Martin’s wife Angela were both near to their best the rest of the Surrey contingent were somewhat below par as the field spread out and individuals became isolated. Another cautious race from Shaun Lightman left him behind Malcolm and Dan despite a rather less tentative last lap propelling him up the field by several places.
