|Wednesday was the County championships over 10km held within the usual Veterans Athletic Club event and the judging of the higher level demanded of such events. All successfully held their style and generally times were good on an ideal spring evening in the Battersea Park track. The winner, M65 Ian Richards, was in good form to clearly break 50 minutes while Mick Harran was the most improved SWC man just passing Enfield’s Sean Pender in the latter part of the race. In his second race in three days, Shaun Lightman was first Surrey finisher in a time also ahead of recent levels and his record for this race in the last few years. Separating Shaun and Mick, was Dan Maskell who set off with a relatively fast group including Shaun and successfully beat them all apart from his SWC colleague. Lightman and Harran both became champions for their respective Counties.|
