|One of the favourite Open events of the year in the South East is the Pednor 5 miles which attracted over 40 to the beautiful countryside on Bank Holiday Monday. The not-easy two lap course saw many of the top performers recording times not far from times on flatter courses. This included Surrey Walking Club’s Malcolm Martin up in 5th and beating some other racers for the first time while wife Angela, 4th in the women’s section was slightly ahead of recent performances. Just 6 seconds behind, Chris Flint found the speed difficult to maintain over the hilly course although he held off Mick Harran thus reversing their positions on the previous Wednesday at Battersea. Not far behind these in race position were David Delaney and David Hoben both finding the course hard or perhaps paying too much attention to the attractive surroundings!|
