|The annual early September journey to Guernsey took place last weekend including a small party of Surrey Walking Club members – Angela and Malcolm Martin, David Hoben and Mick Harran. This very friendly challenge always begins on the Friday of arrival with a little 3km warm-up which Malcolm won by 11 seconds from local man Phil Lockwood. Although this appears a close race Malcolm was able to pull away in the second lap at what for him was an easy pace whereas the next three places were closely contested considering the nearly 20 miles only 48 hours later. Mick and Angela both achieved all-comers age bests for their efforts further down the good field of 17 with results near their normal pace|
