Macclesfield Shield 10 miles 7th Apr 18
With no other events in the South and needing the distance as part of his London Marathon training, David Hoben travelled up to Maccesfield in the North-West. The weather was dull and mild but did avoid the day-long intermittent rain. The hard if scenic five laps with a long gradient on each was compensated by traditional English tea by courtesy Lancs WC. There were 10 out for this 10 mile event, mostly from the home club and although at the rear of a strong field, David put up a relatively good time.

1. A.Edwards (Lancs WC M55) 1 hr 36 min 53 sec; 2. S.Edgar (D & S M45) 1 hr 49 min 26 sec; 3. P.Crahan (Lancs WC M65) 1 hr 50 min 32 sec; 10. D.Hoben (Sy WC M65) 1 hr 58 min 20 sec.
