The next club race is the SWC 7m in November and the next club stroll is on the 15th September with Gail and John Elrick as conductors

Welcome to the Surrey Walking Club. The Club was originally formed in 1899 as a race walking club. We are still involved in race walking but we now promote a range of walking related activities including ultra distance walking and we have our own successful long distance social walking section known as the Strollers.

Route Description. We start with a walk along the River Wey towpath to St Catherine's Lock. This area is often quite busy with Sunday walkers so it is quite a surprise when we leave the towpath and walk on footpaths passing and beyond Loseley House to reach an area, which is very pretty but which seems little used. On reaching Watts Gallery and joining the NDW it becomes a little busier but passing Tilford Cricket Ground is always a delight and it is a surprise to reach the busy road that needs to be crossed to reach Puttenham. Here we will stop for lunch.  After Puttenham we join the Fox Way and pass through a little used landscape to reach Elstead where mid-afternoon refreshments can be obtained. After leaving the village and bungalow land we enter woods and an area of common land managed as a wildlife area and walk along little used paths to Bagmoor Common towards the delightfully named Mousehill  where we use the bridge to cross the A3. Then to Eashing with its beautiful old bridge and return to Godalming.
Explorer 145. Distance 20 miles (approx.).
