The next club race is the 7 miles on 6th Nov and the next club stroll is on Sunday 11 September with Janette Platt as conductor

Welcome to the Surrey Walking Club. The Club was originally formed in 1899 as a race walking club. We are still involved in race walking but we now promote a range of walking related activities including ultra distance walking and we have our own successful long distance social walking section known as the Strollers.

Next Club Stroll (Long Distance Walk)

Sunday 11 September. Witley circular. Conductor Janette Platt. Start at Witley station 10:04 (London Waterloo 09:00). Return trains 48 and 59 minutes past the hour.

Route description: The morning route takes us via various Hambledons (Hambledon Common, Hambledon village and Hambledon Hurst) to Chiddingfold and then on via some pleasant field paths to our pub lunch (or picnic for those who prefer to bring their own) at Grayswood.  The afternoon starts with a long, steady climb up to the top of Gibbet Hill and some lovely views.  After that, we make our way via the National Trust café at the top of the Devil’s Punch Bowl (chance for a quick drink/ice cream) and then down through the Devil’s Punch Bowl to Thursley.  We then take more pleasant field paths back to Witley.

Explorer 133, approx. 18 miles.
