ver the years many notable performances have been made by members at International level. A selection of these, generally showing only the athlete’s highest level of achievement, follows:-
Olympic Games: G.R.Goodwin (1924 2nd 10km); H.A.Martineau (1948 5th 50km) V.P.Nihill M.B.E. (1964 2nd 50km, 1968 dnf 50km, 1972 6th 20km & 9th 50km, 1976 13th 20km); S.Lightman (1968 18th 50km); H.Timms (25th 50km).
European Games: V.P.Nihil (1969 1st 20 km); M.Easton (1990 16th at 20km).
Commonwealth Games: N.Simmons (1970 17th 20mls for Trinidad) ; M.Easton (1990 5th 30km, 1994 13th 30km, 1998 5th 50km, 2002 50km); S.Sullivan (1990 12th 30km for New Zealand); C.Cheeseman (1998 8th 50km); C.Arosanyin (2006 50km for Nigeria).
Lugano World Walking Cup: Several of the above have been selected for this competition.

R.W.A. National Championship team honours have been won as follows:- 10 miles (1964-65), 20 kilometres (1965-66, 1971), 20 miles (1908-10, 1912-14, 1922-23, 1934-37, 1947-48, 1962-65, 1971), 50 kilometres (1947, 1962-63, 1965, 1971, 2001, 2002), 100 miles (2000) and 22 mile Relay (1994).
The Garnet Cup (National Junior 10 miles championship until 1953) has been won as follows:- 1923, 1929, 1934-35, 1937, 1947, 1954, 1961, 1963, 1971, 1973, 1978 and 1994
The London to Brighton Open Race was won by the following members:- E.C. Horton 1913 & 1922, W. Cowley 1953, K. Mason 1966, P. Selby 1972 & 1980.
The London to Brighton Team Race was won by the Club as follows:- 1930, 1935-36, 1947-48, 1960, 1963-64, 1966, 1971-73, 1978, 1982-84.
100 Mile Races
The Open Ewhurst 100 miles, first held in 1971 replaced the London to Brighton and back (104 miles). The London to Brighton and back was won by E.C. Horton in 1921 and by his son S.E. Horton in 1947. T.E.Hammond won the 24 hours track walk at the White City in 1908. In 1986 R. Brown won the Leicester 100 miles. By 2006 a total of 96 members had become Centurions, a group all certified to have walked in competition at least 100 miles in 24 hours.track walk at the White City in 1908. In 1986 R.
